to People with Disabilities
- SPD, founded in June
1941, is a Section 21 Company (NPO) which strives, in
partnership with and directed by people with disabilities,
to facilitate the removal of all disabling barriers
obstructing the integration of people with disabilities into
society.
VISION
The Board of
Management, service providers, service consumers and all
stakeholders have a dream ... to have all people with
disabilities in Gauteng North fully integrated into society.
MISSION
To enhance
full integration of people with disabilities into their
communities through removal of disabling barriers preventing
integration.
MANAGEMENT
SPD is directed and
guided by fifteen members. A Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and
Honorary Treasurer lead the Executive Committee consisting
of representatives from schools for learners with special
needs, various legal entities, business and local
communities. These elected members are people with
disabilities, parents of children with disabilities and
concerned citizens from all race, religion, gender and age
groups. |

of the abilities of people with disabilities, to
change attitudes and enhance acceptance |
