SPD: Disability Management Toolkit              

The core to the challenges of disability Recruitment and Management is education. Education of employers, employees and the candidate with a disability. Without this education, and the involvement of professionals in the field of disability management, success can only be an ad hoc affair.

Many organisations have policies and procedures in place for the management of people with disabilities. In the majority of cases however these procedures are paper based and lie in a filing cabinet gathering dust because they “look too complicated to use”.

The Disability Toolkit addresses this educational aspect with regards to the employer and the colleagues of the disabled employee.

Included is a list of disabilities with descriptions and reasonable accommodations recommended/expected. Disability Legislation, (such as the Employment Equity Act), Disability Audits and disclosure of disabilities are among the topics discussed.

Studying of voluminous manuals is not required. The user need only access those aspects that are immediately to be put into practice.
